Our Story
SDK9C grew out of years of hands-on experience working with dogs across every level — from family companions struggling with basic manners to high-drive working dogs deployed in demanding environments.
We saw a gap between what most training programs offered and what dogs and handlers actually needed: a structured, science-informed approach that respects the dog's intelligence and builds genuine clarity rather than forced compliance.
That's the foundation of everything we do. We don't just train behaviors — we build relationships between handlers and dogs that hold up under pressure.

Owner & Lead Trainer
Chris is the owner and lead trainer of Sheepdog K9 Consulting (SDK9C), a military vet who also brings over 20 years of law enforcement experience and a lifelong passion for developing pet and working dogs and confident owners and handlers.
His training philosophy combines proven, balanced methods with clear communication, accountability, and practical application — always training the dog in front of him rather than following trends. From family companions to working K9 teams, Chris focuses on building reliable obedience, real-world performance, and stronger relationships between dogs and their handlers.
Whether teaching a puppy owner or mentoring law enforcement teams, his mission remains the same: educate, empower, and elevate every team that steps onto the training field.
Arleigh
Trainer
Arleigh is a trainer with Sheepdog K9 Consulting who brings a calm, patient, and practical approach to every dog she works with. With a strong background in animal handling and horse training, she understands the importance of clear communication, consistency, and building trust through fair, effective training.
Working alongside Chris, Arleigh is committed to Sheepdog K9 Consulting's balanced training philosophy, helping dogs and their owners develop lasting obedience and confidence. Whether working with puppies, family companions, or dogs needing a stronger foundation, her focus is on creating successful teams through education, structure, and individualized training.
Arleigh believes every dog has the ability to succeed when given the right guidance, and she is passionate about helping owners achieve real-world results that last.
Angel
Administrative Coordinator
Angel is the administrative coordinator and behind-the-scenes force that helps keep Sheepdog K9 Consulting running smoothly. From managing scheduling, client communication, and social media to supporting day-to-day operations, she plays an essential role in ensuring every client has a positive experience from their first inquiry to their final training session.
As the backbone of our lead trainer — and his lovely wife — Angel's organization, dedication, and unwavering support allow the training team to focus on what they do best — developing dogs and educating handlers. Her commitment to serving clients, attention to detail, and genuine care for both people and their dogs make her an invaluable part of the SDK9C family.
While you may not always see her on the training field, chances are she's the reason everything behind the scenes is running seamlessly.
